Uncaged by Zac Brown Band

Uncaged by Zac Brown Band
Released July 10, 2012
Label: Atlantic

This was another album that I was overly excited about when I learned of it's set release date. I have been a big fan of ZBB since The Foundation and they don't disappoint here. The thing that can be said about this band is that each album has a unique sound to it. The Foundation has a natural upbeat southern rock to it. You Get What You Give focuses more on the country aspects of their sound and a few from the last one. They have previous albums too, but there are quite a few repeats. Uncaged keep elements from both of those two and adds it's own sound to it. This time around Zac Brown Band adds in an island element to their music that is quite refreshing. One thing to keep in mind about this album is that it is a Zac Brown BAND album. Brown does not even do all the leading vocals throughout the album and they highlight what every member of the band can do. It's bands like these guys, that come up with new things and can change their sound, that fans will never tire of them.

Notable Mention

Jump Right In
As soon as it starts you can tell it's not your average country song. It has the islandy feel that I brought up before. It''s good to know that bands can still change their sound and be good in more than one genre.

Goodbye In Her Eyes
This is a song that is written much like it could be a B-Side for YGWYG but it is MUCH too good to be a B-Side. Great song.

Island Song
Such a great song that is clearly Bob Marley inspired. The thing that I like about this is that they can write music like this and like they have in all their previous albums and be good in all of it.

Sweet Annie
This highlights just how lyrically brilliant this band can be.

Overnight (feat Trombone Shorty)
I could do without this song. Not saying it's terrible, but it just doesn't seem to fit. It does though show yet ANOTHER genre ZBB could be good at.

Day That I Die
I hear a Martin-esque guitar part here. In the beginning it almost sound like its the EXACT same. Other than that the song send a good message and it is a powerful song. 8 acoustic Martin guitars out of 10
